The balance of a G/L account is the sum of the debit and credit balances of the account. There are two types of balances: -Credit balances -Debit balances Structure: The account balance displays the following: -The opening balance (the balance carried forward from the previous year) -The total of all transactions for each posting period, broken down into debit and credit postings (transaction figures): From these figures the system also calculates the following for the account balance display: -The balance per posting period -The accumulated account balance
